Vintage Included Finishes and Features
Renaissance Vintage Collection homes are certified as Energy Star® and LEED®. This means they have been designed to be more comfortable for you and better for the environment. All homes include sustainable features that promote high energy efficiency, healthier indoor air, resource conservation and environmental responsibility.
Energy Efficiency Features
- Efficient ductwork design & seal: standard duct systems can lose up to 30% of every dollar of heating and cooling costs. By using mastic to seal all duct connections, conditioned air loss is reduced to less than 6%. Mastic-sealed ducting also reduces air contaminants from entering the home through the ducting.
- High-efficiency vinyl windows outperform standard code windows. They reduce heat loss in the winter and heat gain in the summer by use of a Low-E coating, inert Argon gas and advanced framing technologies.
- House tightening measures help ensure the home’s energy performance by reducing air infiltration through the thermal shell. This is accomplished by sealing areas such as plumbing and electrical penetrations, caulking along the top and bottom exterior wall connections and spraying foam inside the rim joists.
- Polar Blanket insulation – blown-in wall insulation for superior insulating value.
- High-efficiency gas tankless water heater - Hot water, only when you need it. Saving you energy.
- High-efficiency lighting - At least 75% of the sockets in this home feature compact fluorescent lighting, lasting up to 10 times longer than incandescent light bulbs and using up to 75% less energy.
- GE ENERGY STAR® Qualified dishwasher uses 25% less energy and saves about 1,000 gallons of water annually compared to a conventional model.
Healthier Indoor Air Features
- Whole House Ventilation enhances indoor air quality by intermittently circulating fresh outside air into the return air ducting.
- Vents Protected During Construction can help reduce dust and debris from falling into furnace ducts during construction. Covering vents contributes to overall cleaner air entering the house after construction is complete.
- Sealed Gas Fireplaces w/Electronic Ignition promote healthier indoor air by effectively reducing the presence of carbon monoxide and other gases inside the home while maximizing energy savings by eliminating the continuously burning pilot light.
- Sherwin Williams® Certified Indoor Paints have almost no volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) to off-gas during the curing process. This improves indoor air quality both during and after the construction process is complete. Sherwin Williams’ paints are certified by an independent organization to meet requirements for product and company environmental responsibility.
- Air Filters rated a minimum of MERV 8 are 35% to 50% more efficient at filtering particulate matter, pollen, dust and mold before they enter the vents in your home.
- Central Vacuum System (or Rough In), which exhausts outside, promotes healthier indoor air by allowing you to avoid re-circulating dust, pollen and other allergens within your home.
Resource Efficiency and Environmental Responsibility Features
- Steel and/or Fiberglass Exterior Doors are durable and reusable, providing a long life and low maintenance.
- Low-VOC Exterior Paint reduces air contamination caused by the release of volatile organic compounds.
- Low-VOC Adhesives and/or Caulking helps maintain indoor air quality by reducing off gassing of volatile organic compounds in the home.
- Medium-Density Fiberboard (MDF) Casework is made from recycled construction materials and bonded together with low toxic adhesives, some of which may be formaldehyde-free. It also has lower impact on forest timber.
- Vented Rain Screen is a method for siding installation that includes an air cavity drainage plane under the siding. This is the premier engineered weather resistive system for buildings in our climate. This system reduces the potential for moisture damage in wall cavities and reduces the requirement for caulking as a weather barrier.
- James Hardie Fiber Cement Siding drastically reduces the demand on forest products by developing recycled materials into a sustainable product. This durable siding can be produced to a specified size, thus supporting a waste-free design.
- Tree Preservation retains mature trees on the property to help shade the home in the summer, keeping it cooler and more comfortable.
- Garden Mulch boosts the water efficiency of landscaped areas by helping the soil to retain moisture. These materials are typically organic (grass clippings, shredded leaves, wood chips and bark) and applied at a depth of at least four inches.
- Composite Engineered Wood flooring support is made from, recycled wood, short-growth forests and off-cuts from the milling process. These materials dramatically reduce the demand on forest timber and eliminate many natural-wood problems.
- Stockpiled Dirt Protection prevents dirt and erosion during construction and preserves valuable topsoil for future re-vegetation of the site.
