Renaissance Homes has made its largest
Bend area charitable contribution to date with a $3,000
donation to underwrite the Patrick Lamb CD release party
at 7 p.m. April 7 (Saturday) at the Tower Theater. The
party is a fund raiser for the KIDS Center which serves
approximately 450 Deschutes County children needing
evaluation and treatment for sexual abuse, physical
and emotional abuse and neglect.
April is National Child Abuse Prevention
Month and Renaissance President Randy Sebastian, who
has five children, ages five through 19, said he felt
the KIDS Center was “providing one of the most
important services I can imagine. Child abuse is one
of society’s saddest and most important problems.”
Besides offering medical evaluations
and counseling, the center coordinates the April Blue
Ribbon Campaign to draw attention to the problem of
child abuse, co-ordinates the Deschutes County multi-disciplinary
team and offers consulting and training to other central
and eastern Oregon counties.
“We are really pleased to be
able to team with Patrick Lamb and the other sponsors
to help raise funs for the KIDS Center. We make an effort
to support the communities where we build,” said
Sebastian, whose Portland-based firm currently is developing
the 210-home Renaissance Ridge off Brookswood Drive
at Aspen Rim Lane.
Sebastian was recently honored at the
Portland Royal Rosarians’ Newsmakers of the Year
banquet for his contributions to providing a home free
of charge to a former Grant County Sherif who is undergoing
painful reconstructive surgery to repair damage from
a shotgun blast to the face received in the line of
duty.
Lamb, a nationally known jazz musician,
said he is breaking new ground with this CD. Revisiting
his southern roots, he said he has added sounds from
other artists who have influenced him–the funk
of James Brown, horn section of Tower of Power, soul
of Sly & The Family Stone and his own musical voice.
This forms what he calls “the unique, new sound
of Patrick Lamb.”
