Renaissance Homes has begun sales in the final 49-home phase at its 223-home, $100 million Peterkort Woods townhome neighborhood just off SW Barnes Rd. at Valeria View Rd., west of St. Vincent Hospital.
To date, six of the 2,121-square-foot to 2,905 square foot, two to three bedroom, 2.5 to three bath homes in the last phase have been sold. Base prices in this phase run from $491,900 to $802,900. Overall, 168 homes have been sold in the firm’s first luxury townhome neighborhood.
“When we opened Peterkort Woods two years ago, we were confident there was potential for a good luxury townhome market outside of downtown Portland. Our success has surprised even us. Peterkort has been our fastest selling neighborhood, and I’d guess that we’ll be pretty well sold out in another nine months or so,” said Randy Sebastian, president of Renaissance Homes.
In fact, his success at Peterkort Woods, prompted Sebastian to open a similar neighborhood, the Lakes, in the Fisher’s Landing area east of Vancouver.
Peterkort Woods’ final phase contains the largest of the neighborhood’s townhomes which have proven popular with buyers, said Amanda Andruss, Renaissance broker who has been with the project almost from the beginning.
“Our first sales in this phase have all been the largest homes, which are unusually large for townhomes. People seem to be pleased with the opportunity to get the space that nearly 3,000 square feet offers in a townhome,” Andruss said.
Many sales over Peterkort’s first phases were to people who travel for work or pleasure or who spend part of the year in a warmer climate. “These are people who like to be able to turn the key and walk away knowing that their home is safe,” said Andruss.
“We’ve also seen a number of people from the Pearl District downtown who want to be close to town but really like the additional space, the two car garages that each of these homes have and who appreciate the quiet here among the big fir trees,” she said.
Peterkort Woods’ setting, trail system and swimming pool and clubhouse with award winning landscaping, have allowed Andruss to sell lifestyle. “Everything really came together when we opened the clubhouse last fall. People could really see and feel the lifestyle which Peterkort Woods encourages.”
Peterkort’s mile of trails is scheduled to be blended into Tualatin Valley Parks and Recreation’s multiple-mile miles of trails.
Renaissance Homes is one of Oregon’s largest residential builders and was the first to commit to total “green” building. This year, Peterkort Woods won the Homebuilders of Metropolitan Portland Excellence awards for the best green single family home under $500,000 and best green single family home over $500,000. It was the first year for these two awards..
Entries were judged by Portland area “green building” experts which “makes these awards all the more meaningful. We committed early to environmentally responsible building and these awards show that we’re moving down the right path,” said Karl Lange, Renaissance’ director of building science, who oversees Renaissance’ Living Green standards, a package of environmentally sound Earth Advantage and Energy Star specifications, building practices and materials. Renaissance was Oregon’s first major builder with a full-time director of builder science, responsible for overseeing and continually improving its green building systems.
Besides Peterkort Woods, Renaissance currently has neighborhoods underway in Beaverton, Sherwood, Wilsonville, Forest Grove, southwest Portland, West Linn, on the OGA golf course at Tukwila, Vancouver, Camas and in Bend.
